Revuenon 55mm f1.2 — Pentax Hunter strikes again!

Recently found a copy of the Revuenon 55mm f1.2 and immediately got it! Its my very first f1.2 lens. Sweet!

With initial photo-tests, the copy seems to be sharp @ 1.2! Although I have to watch out for bright stuff as I can see some ca.

More real life tests should show us what this lens is really capable of.

Reviewers at http://www.pentaxforums.com/userreviews/Revuenon-55mm-F1.2-MC-for-Pentax.html gave it a 9. hmmm… we’ll just have to see about that!

pics taken with the lens… all at f1.2

The Travelling Pentaxian: Ilocos Norte

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

here are a few snaps from my trip to Ilocos Norte for a TV show shoot. I tried to look around for Pentax stuff but wasnt lucky.

I didnt even get to meet Ilocos Pentaxian Alaric Yanos (from DPP).

Ilocos Norte is a nice province, old and nostalgic. Kind of reminds me of Taal, Batangas. Laoag City has a small town charm with  a brewing commerce and industry vibe. you can feel that someday it will just boom with activity.

Found! smcp m 28mm f2.8

I just found an SMCP M 28mm f2.8 at Moy’s stall in Hidalgo, Quiapo. The lens was clean, snappy aperture blades, nice to hold. no fungus.

price 3,500.00 quoted

for those wanting a wide (35mm) lens, or a semi wide lens (dslr), perfect for street shooting. i got a copy of this lens just for the hyperfocus (panfocus?) ability at f8 (1.5 meters to infinity in focus). so i just literally point and shoot, when i have good light.

Some say its the poor pentaxian’s pancake lens.

get this lens!

One afternoon and a room full of Pentaxians

Megatrade Hall Conferrence Room, MegaMall.

I almost missed it. I had searched all the other halls of Megatrade (1,2, and 3) looking for the big Pentax get together, Doc Mark’s Seminar and the launch of the K5 and Kr. I forgot where the venue was exactly. Then I asked the people in the Camerahaus store (5th floor Megamall).

“Boss, san yung…”

“Dun po.”

I haven’t finished my question yet. Maybe they got asked that question a lot.

The show was about to start. I arrived just in time. The room was half full. only a few seats left.

Apple Chua introduced Robenson from Camerahaus, he talked about Camerahaus’ commitment to Pentaxians (or something like that… or at least i hope that’s what he said. 🙂 )

Then aboard came Apple again introducing Doc Mark Dimalanta. most Pinoy Pentaxians know Doc Mark. but for those who dont, here’s a few quick links:

http://www.markdimalanta.com/

http://surfdoc.blogspot.com/

http://www.pentaxian.com/#pentaxians/inspirationalist/mark_dimalanta

He talked about Pentax, his long time love affair with Pentax, how Pentax gave him wings when his leg was broken and was diagnosed not to be able to walk normally again.

He gave us a history lesson on Pentax. He gave his K7 a bath of bottled water pointing out Pentax’s amazing weather-sealing.

He then moved on to the introduction of the Kr and K5. I wouldn’t go into details of the K5 and Kr. Googling would yield better results. 🙂

After the talk, I looked over my shoulder (I was sitting 2 rows from the front) to see that the room was already full and some people were standing already.

We had a group hug courtesy of Doc Mark. And here are the pics… well except the group hug. We’ll have to wait for Doc Mark for that.

MegaMall Pentax Shindig

The CameraHaus organized Pentax Kr and K5 launch in MegaMall started today. I arrived early enough to see them setting up. (11:00am)

I came to meet PinoyPentaxian Jay Laurito to swap lenses, my Tokina 28 2.8, Tokia 100-300 5.6-6.7, m42-kmount adapter to his dal 55-300 4-5.8.

And since I’m already there in Megamall, I dropped by the Pentax Booth (building B – near the supermarket and Dunkin’ Donuts). And here’s my report:

I came, i saw, i had my cameras cleaned! i was the first daw who came to have stuff cleaned. indeed, buga buga lang with a rocket blower, wiping of soft cloth and some brushing here and there. no wet cleaning because of the location (open air, too much traffic and dust might be flying around).

i met apple chua, bong manayon, and jean (or gene?).

apple was pleasant enough to introduce herself (she’s the one emailing us in the pipen mailing list). and she’s cute.

bong manayon was helping set up the photo display monitor.

jean (or gene) was having hi k-x cleaned. (2nd customer! )

come by and have your stuff checked out, fondle the k-r (not k5 yet a while ago), talk to fellow pentaxians. dont be shy, introduce yourselves!

what to get? what to get?

see you on saturday pentaxians, for the much awaited doc mark workshop!
